Discovering Textiles - Europeana

Providing easy ways to access collections and themes centred on design and art, Europeana is an online database that promises plenty of inspiration. 

Mainly based on European pieces, this database allows users to search for specific items such as "fragment of cloth" or browse collections, such as this one about masks.  There are a few pieces relating to Shetland on the site although none of tweed... yet! A fascinating way to lose an hour or two exploring different traditions, not just in textiles but across a wide range of topics.
