Cyrene Mission in London

Cyrene Mission in Zimbabwe will be familiar to many of you who read the blog. I write about the art movement that started there occasionally and the place holds special memories for me as a Zimbabwean.

This week an exhibition of paintings, entitled The Stars are Bright, from students at the school opened in London's Shoreditch. The paintings themselves have had an interesting past, having been rescued from oblivion by an architectural salvage company after a successful showing in the 1950s in London. That story is told in this article.

I intend to write a longer article on the paintings and the show because it is a Very Exciting Event. In the meantime, you can read more about the exhibition here and see some images of the actual buildings with their beautiful murals here. This is a real feel-good show, just what is needed at the moment.

If you get a chance, go to see the show in Shoreditch. You can book free tickets here. If you cannot go but would like to attend virtually, I can see if we can organise a virtual tour. Please get in touch to let me know you would like to attend and I will do some research about how to do this.
