Cullivoe School weaving
In 2009, the Cullivoe School trialled a weave project, from concept to finished woven article.
The initial stage was showing the children how to use digital cameras, and how to take a good picture. These pictures then formed the basis for design using yarn wraps, and, after a brief introduction to the theory of weave, the three groups came to the Centre to make their designs on a long woven piece of textile.
The piece now hangs in the school, and we are very proud of it. Thanks for the chance to work with the school, pupils and staff. We would like to do this project again for schools across Shetland, and will continue to search for ways to enable this to happen.
