Shetland Craft Fair 2015

Last weekend we went to the Shetland Craft Fair, an annual event which takes over the Clickimin Centre in Lerwick and which shows off Shetland art and craft to a Christmas-shopping audience.

The Craft Fair is run by Shetland Arts and Crafts, a membership association for makers and artists, and this year it was bigger and better than ever. There are two halls which the Fair uses, the main Sports Hall and the Bowls Hall, and it was amazing to see the variety of crafts on offer. There was some fabulous textiles and not just knitting. Weaving too featured well this year. Have a look at the brochure to see who was there and what a lot of talent and hard work goes on in these islands.

I was very impressed with the Craft Fair. It is another great example of voluntary effort in Shetland where the collective is stronger than the sum of its parts. Congrats to the committee and to all the exhibitors. We hope to show next year alongside you all.
