Christmas songs and music

This week, we have a full schedule of entertainment, both local and international via the internet. Last night was the Cullivoe School concert complete with dancing, singing sheep, and a pantomime of Briar Rose by the Cullivoe Secondary pupils. I was amazed by the strength of the singing and the acting, and the obvious delight in being on stage that everyone showed. A community effort, the concert raised money for charities including "Toilet Twinning" and "Mary's Meals", and featured lots of local folk helping to set the stage, build an extension onto it, making cakes, serving tea, rehearsing the children, sewing costumes, and the like. It was truly heartwarming!

This weekend is our Singing Saturdays concert for Christmas as part of the Community School of Ballet show. We are looking forward to it, having seen a fantastic dress rehearsal last week. Enjoy it everyone!

And on Sunday, there is much relaxation to be done with some new releases of classical music, choral and instrumental, from iTunes and emusic. The ipod is full of good listening and as the snow falls here in the Far North, we shall be cosy and warm and dreaming of a White Christmas.
