A low-cost childhood centre

A childhood centre in Colombia has just been opened in Villa Rica, Colombia which will make a real difference to the inner city.

The "school" acts as a community centre as well as a recycling plant for water, solar user and place of education. It took three years to plan in collaboration with the local community and others, and the final result has a theatre which can be used for movies as well, places where children can learn in their own ways, gathering spaces for people from the local community and much else besides. And it looks good too! Have a look at the designboom.com entry and let us know what you think about the idea.
