Capillary action in action

Friends of the blog are always sending in interesting things. Here is one such submission.

Wool forestA regular contributor (thank you, Ms YKWYA!)  has sent in a link to an installation by the team at Not Tom and Louisa Thomas for an exhibition in a gallery in London's Pall Mall. Using branches wrapped in wool and then placed into tins of pigment, the idea is that capillary action draws up the colour into the wool fading  from solid colour at the bottom to the natural colour of the wool at the top. It looks rather beautiful, don't you think? A strangely lovely surreal woodland where maginc things happen...
