Writing a business plan

Business planning is a serious... well, business. But it doesn't need to be stressful and can even be exciting and fun!

This week I am writing a new business plan for GlobalYell which will help us make the most of the new equipment that we will be getting from our Coastal Communities funding. So yesterday I sat down in front of a blank piece of paper and doodled away with ideas and plans until they made sense.

A business plan should be a way to tell other people what you plan to do and should be a good guide to yourself to help you achieve what you want. Of course, things rarely work out the way we want so business plans need to change, but any plan is not worth the screen it is typed on unless it is used. Now we have the beginnings of a plan to help us achieve our next few year's goals, including workshops, production, residencies and it is all very exciting! We will post details as and when they are ready but the first thing is going to be... No, you will just have to wait and see.

If you are writing a business plan, have a look at the Prince's Trust guide. It does help.
