Fashion made from old tapes
Benjamin Benmoyal, a student at Central St Martins, has used old video and cassette tapes to create fashion.
Woven by hand from the recycled material and Tencel - you can see that process on Benjamin's website here - the fabrics were made into clothing inspired by the colours of Icelandic landscapes and pieces by artists such as Olafur Eliasson. The architectural shapes of the pieces were based on brutalist buildings in his hometown of Paris while the whole collection references childhood memories of films and music. The collection was shown at the School's Designing in Turbulent Times event and you can see more of the work on Dezeen, on the catwalk and on Tatler.
