Music on the BBC

You wait for ages for a good music programme and then three come along at once.

BBC iPlayer (sadly not available worldwide) has come up trumps this week. After a few days travelling  across the islands, some downtime has been called for. So I have been watching The A to Z of World Music with short snippets of world music stars from the 1960's through to today, Anyone for Demis? How the World Invaded the Charts all about the introduction of what we now call "World Music" to the UK and the influence that has had on musical tastes, and finally, How to be a World Music Star. I have not watched the last yet; that is today's treat, but I have heard new music, new styles and wonderful melodies and harmonies. Truly music is an astonishing thing.
