Audrey Walker

The artist, Audrey Walker, created layered, intricate pictures of machine and hand-stitched threads.

With an innovative approach to teaching during her career, particularly at Goldsmiths College where disciplines were happily mixed to suit each individual student, Audrey went on after retirement to create textiles of great beauty and not a little subversion. These were the culmination of her education as a fine artist, trained in Edinburgh and London, her work in schools, and her experience with such groups as the Sixty-Two Group.

This obituary from the Guardian newspaper reveals more about this outstanding artist who inspired many throughout her life.
