Athi-Patra Ruga and Irma Stern

The versatile and fascinating artist, Athi-Patra Ruga, has recently completed a three month residency at the Irma Stern Gallery in Cape Town. 

Now showing works from that residency, alongside earlier tapestries that rework Irma Stern's paintings, the artist looks at the technical details of the artworks and reinvents them so that the public is presented with a different viewpoint. In the video below, Athi-Patra explains his motivation and the thinking behind this show.
