Moving Image Archive Group
The Shetland Moving Image Archive Group is holding an interesting event this week.
They are screening "The Work They Say is Mine" on Friday 30th August at the Shetland Museum and Archives at 7.30pm. Admission £5 (£3 concession).
"The Work they Say is Mine is a documentary, filmed in Shetland in 1986 and depicts women's central role in the past and present of Shetland life (1980s) and explores the relationship between women and work. It contains interviews with Shetland women who share their experiences of knitting, crofting and fishing and the hardship they encountered, often with poor pay and conditions. The film interweaves interviews and dramatisations and contains music and song.
There will be a short talk on the film and the work of women in Shetland and another on the work of the Shetland Moving Image Archive Group."
