Article of the week - number seventy - a length of Heals fabric

This length of fabric is called "Chromatics" and was designed by Diane Bell for the furniture and interiors shop, Heals, in London's West End.

The design dates to 1975 and is cotton with a vibrant three-dimensional effect print that replicates and plays upon a weaving pattern. Its bright, fresh colours would have complemented any home of the period.

The piece is held in various collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the designer has pieces in Minneapolis Institute of Art  that show how the trend to move to more blended looks in interiors were affecting design.

This is one of the pieces in the collection about which we know very little, and there is not much information on the internet. Any information about Diane Bell or Chromatics would be gratefully received.
