Article of the week - number sixty-six - an embroidered decal
Adam Bridgland is a graduate from the Royal College of Art who uses nostalgia and memory to evoke emotions with wit and humour.
The piece in the collection is a large embroidery made to resemble a decal. A jet 'plane in the centre of the roundel is surrounded by the words "This city is pretty when leaving on a plane", a wry reflection of the way in which people romanticise places they have been. The piece was bought from the Curwen Gallery when it closed, and it measures 56cm x 56cm.
