Article of the Week - number sixty-three - A length of fabric from Practical Styling

Tommy Roberts was a designer who embraced design with style and panache from the 1960s onwards.

This length of printed cotton (left) uses classical motifs that were also used on furniture, such as this bookcase (pictured right). Always at the forefront of trends Tommy opened his boutique shop Practical Styling in 1981, championing British design. He then followed it with TomTom and untimately 2 Columbia Road, specialising in 20th Century art and design.
