Article of the week - number forty-nine - a printed cotton cloth

This cotton cloth was bought on eBay and unfortunately there is no information to be found about it.

The cloth may be almost a century old and is a fine cotton, printed in red and black with decorative motifs and patterns. It was most likely made for interior use rather than fashion; hard to imagine anyone wearing this as a dress...

In this time of year when normally Up Helly Aa is taking place across the isles, it is a good reminder of joful celebration and the return of the Spring. If you do want to see what all the fuss is about, Cullivoe, the village just down from the studio in Yell, is hosting an online celebration in place of the real thing. You can see it here on YouTube, all three hours of it!
