Article of the Week - number twenty four - Le Cerisier
"The Cherry Tree" is a printed wallhanging, designed to look like tapestry, manufactured by Henri Duprez.
It was created in the 1970s from what little information is available, and is part of a series of art on textiles made by this Paris firm. Each piece is quite large, about 1.5 m wide, so definitely statement pieces wherever they were hung. This one has a stylised tree with insects and birds in it, and a marvellously detailed squirrel eating cherries beneath.
We are looking for more information about this and the other textiles we have from this manufacturer. If you can help us, please get in touch.
