Article of the Week - number twenty
This artwork is from an artist in Brighton who created knitted armour as an exhibition for the Open Houses Trail.
Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the artist and my records are in Shetland, but I shall put it on the blog when it comes to light.
The exhibition featured life-size knitted recreations of armour, and these were displayed in the artist's living room. Striking and powerful as you can see from the photograph of the artist's son wearing this helmet, I do hope they were bought by a museum. We acquired the drawing which shows a helmet but also has instructions for knitting it. I have never managed to get the instructions tested but presumably they work. Any knitters out there want to try?
