Maya Angelou

The writer, Maya Angelou, has passed away.

Perhaps "writer" does not describe adequately the many facets of Maya's activism, told through poetry and prose. Her upbringing in the 1930's, in the Deep South of the USA, created a woman who had vision, strength and courage as told here on the BBC. I remember seeing her read "And Still I Rise" and tears of joy rolling down my face during the experience. What a fantastic way to view the world!

RIP Maya Angelou. We are better because of you.
