The Centre of Folk Art and Tradition
Angeliki Hatzmichali's Art Deco home in Plaka is a museum dedicated to this extraordinary woman's life and work.
The building houses collections of ceramics, embroideries, tapestries and costumes as well as looms and a small library. Unfortunately photographs are not permitted in the house but you can see some of the rooms on this website.
Angeliki was a prolific researcher and recorder of tradition, writing more than one hundred publications. She held the first folk art show in the country and was hugely influential in preserving and promoting the costumes of Greece. Her best-known publication is the two-volume set "The Greek Folk Costume", the first of which is now in the studio collection.
