What is on Alvin?

We are almost up to our full production capacity and the studio is alive with the sound of creativity!

As regular readers of the blog know, Alvin is now four years old and we have been learning, adjusting and tinkering with him to make the best cloth we can possibly make.  This week, for the first time, we have managed to have one cloth finished and at the finishers, one being woven on Alvin, and another on the second beam, ready for warping up once the current cloth is complete. It feels wonderful to have so much going on and to have a real sense of how productive we can actually be.

Alexa and I have decided on a few new things too. The biggest decision is that we are going to make four special cloths a year, one for each season. These will be available as thirty metre lengths; Limited Editions as with all our production. Summer 2019 is on Alvin at the moment and here is a picture (left) to remind you of what it is based on and what the woven fabric looks like. (right) Incidentally the cloth is all Alexa's work. Doesn't it look great!

The third picture on this page is an order for The Shetland Museum - scarves for a special project which we cannot tell you about yet but will do as soon as we have the go-ahead. It has been a really interesting project to work on and we are Very Excited about it!
