What is on the loom?
Warping up the next project is going on at the moment. Beautiful colours of the sea, from the white of the spume to the deep blue of the middle of a wave. It makes January weather bearable!
The colours were chosen by Alicja, working to a brief to create the colours of a breaking wave, and the proportions of colour are chosen by using the Fibonacci Sequence, the first colour melting into the second, the second into the third, and so on until seven colours have been used. When the warp is done I shall post pictures.
Weaving this is going to be interesting. The weave is to be a simple twill but there are going to be seven colours in use; the first time we will ever have used seven on Alvin the loom. The final pieces will be bed and table runners.
If you fancy trying your hand at blending colours, use the same sequence - 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13 - as I did, and reverse the sequence on the first colour as the second colour increases in sequence. If you want more details, get in touch and I will give you the progression.
