What's on Alvin?

Just before Storm Caroline hit and spread snow across Shetland Alvin the loom finished weaving some new cloth for The Shetland Tweed Company.

Designed using the colours that I can see out of the studio windows it was great to be able to make this warm wooly fabric while outside the storm clouds gathered.

Some of the fabric has been designed for scarves and we will make those up in the New Year, but the majority of the cloth has been woven with heavier weight yarn so that it can be used as upholstery fabric. You can see this pattern in the picture. The next stage is to send the seven metres off to the finishers and get it back washed, pressed and fulled. Then I will put it out ready for sale in the Spring.
