Alexander McCall Smith to pen Scottish Opera libretto

The man who wrote the wonderful No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series is about to write his first opera! Alexander McCall Smith has already created a small opera house in Botswana which staged its first opera a couple of years ago, The Okavango Macbeth. (The European premiere of this was in the Dovecot Studios, the fabulous tapestry studios in Edinburgh, which once again featured the writer and the composer of the opera in collaboration this year in A Tapestry of Many Threads. a staged song cycle.)
