African Textiles Today

A new book has been added to the studio library: African Textile Today from The British Museum Press.

Published in 2012, this book features many of the textiles from the continent which the Museum holds in its collection of over 4,500 pieces. Filled with information and photographs of not only the fabrics but also art works made from them and of the people who wear them, it is a fascinating insight into the history and contemporary practice of textile creation in the various countries in Africa.

The studio library is available for use by the public. To use the library please let us know when you would like to come and we will be happy to provide a space and tea or coffee while you browse the titles.
