An Adies of Voe sample

This week a small piece of history has been donated to the studio collection.

The Adies company was the largest of the weave concerns in Shetland and certianly the most well-known. Most of their archive is now in the Shetland Museum Store where it can be viewed by appointment but a friend of the blog, Marion, has kindly donated a piece to us for use in our research. It is in a pale yellow plied with white in the weft and a fawn plied with dark grey in the warp and the overall effect is full of life and a quiet energy.

Thank you, Marion. I look forward to finding out more about this piece of tweed.
