New books for the library

There are two new-to-us books in the library.

The first book is Fifteen Craftsmen on Their Crafts published in London by The Sylvan Press in 1945. It is a beautiful little book, with pictures and photographs of the craft of the time including textile printing, musical instrument making, spinning and weaving, embroidery and wood engraving among others. Each chapter has been written by a different expert in their field and it is an enchanting and delightful read from a goden period of craft in the UK.

The second book is the Golden Hands Encyclopedia of Dressmaking published by Marshall Cavendish  in 1972. Full of patterns and ideas, it is also complete with instructions for cutting, sewing and altering.

The library at the studio is open to the public for browsing and reading in the building. To use the facilities, please call 01957 744 355 or email and make sure we are open. We supply tea and coffee and biscuits for a small donation, and will be pleased to welcome you.
