About Us

GlobalYell has been working with textiles education and training for ten years since a generous donation of weaving equipment was made by ASF Weave, formerly the Ann Sutton Foundation.

The charity is led by Andy Ross, who lives in Yell where the organisation is based, and who has a special interest in textiles. Andy grew up in Zimbabwe where there is a strong textiles tradition and comes from a family who knits, sews and creates using fabrics and yarns. The donation of the weave equipment has allowed us to learn new skills in weaving and to work with some exciting and interesting weavers who come up to Yell to share their expertise and experience with local people.

The studio houses a reference library of books and magazines as well as samples of cloth and fabrics from around the world. To use the library you can email us to make an appointment or call us on 01957 744 355.
