The Subversive Stitch
We have a new book for the library: The Subversive Stitch by Rozsika Parker.
Published in 1984, the book, which is subtitled Embroidery and the making of the feminine, is a pioneering study of the history of the craft, and, through it, of women. Espionage, emancipation, protest; all these as well as the preservation of tradition and culture. It looks like a fascinating book with plenty to learn in it.
The library is open to readers to use the books in the studio. If you wish to book some time, please email and we will arrange for you to visit.
