Late summer colour

As we mentioned last week, this is now late in the summer and the colours are turning.

One of my favourite walks is along the banks at Gutcher heading out towards Fetlar. There is always plenty to see; flocks of geese, seals, the ferry plying the sound to and from the islands, and at this time of year, lots of colour as the heather starts to bloom on the edges of old peat banks and the late summer, darker colours come to the fore. This walk takes about two and a half hours if you allow plenty of time to stop and poke about in puddles and rockpools, and a sit on the rocks overlooking Bluemull Sound and Linga.
